Strategy Layer
Use case selection and business value evaluation
The strategy layer helps organizations make informed decisions about where and how to invest in GenAI. It supports the identification and selection of promising use cases, assessment and preparation of GenAI adoption readiness, and evaluation of the expected business value. The goal of this layer is to ensure that GenAI initiatives are strategically aligned, feasible to implement, and capable of delivering measurable value beyond isolated pilots.
Use Case Selection Framework
To identify and select use cases, the toolkit provides a use case selection framework. This framework helps organizations systematically analyze and compare potential GenAI use cases and prioritize them for implementation.
Use cases are evaluated using criteria such as expected impact, implementation feasibility and complexity, and potential risks, enabling transparent and well-founded decision-making.
Value Evaluation Framework
For business value evaluation, the strategy layer includes a value evaluation framework. Rather than focusing only on technical metrics, this framework supports a broader assessment of how GenAI changes work, decisions, and experiences.
It helps organizations evaluate different value dimensions—such as informational, economic, operational, and experiential value—and supports structured discussions about where and how GenAI creates meaningful benefits.

AI Implementation Capability Assessment (AICapDev)
To assess readiness and prepare for GenAI adoption, the toolkit includes an AI implementation capability assessment and development tool (AICapDev). This tool helps organizations identify gaps in their current AI readiness across key capability areas (such as data, skills, governance, technology, and use case management) and define concrete capability development steps and roadmaps to support successful GenAI implementation.
GenAI Success Canvas
Finally, the strategy layer provides a GenAI success canvas, which helps organizations structure and steer the GenAI implementation process. It supports alignment between strategic goals, selected use cases, required capabilities, and expected outcomes, helping organizations move from strategic intent to coordinated and successful execution.
