Overview
The GAIK use cases at a glance
A GAIK use case shows how the toolkit's software components and modules combine into a solution to a concrete knowledge-work problem. Each one starts from a business need and ends with a pipeline you can build with the toolkit. This page summarises them, and each summary links to the full description.

Documents and records from speech
Incident Reporting
Employees and supervisors report incidents, near misses and safety observations by voice or text. The transcript is cleaned up and the required fields are extracted, so a complete, standardized incident record is ready for review.
Construction Site Diary Creation
Site supervisors record what happened during the day by voice instead of filling in a diary from memory in the evening. The recordings become a structured, standardized construction diary that the site manager reviews.
Safety Observation Reporting
Near misses, hazards and deviations are often reported verbally or in short notes. This use case turns them into complete safety reports with all the fields of an official form, for faster and more consistent safety documentation.
Documents and data from documents
Purchase Order Processing
Incoming purchase orders (PDFs, scans and bills of material) are read, matched against material records and price lists, and turned into a priced sales order. The reviewer stays in control of the final order, and the manual reading and arithmetic go away.

Report Writing
Recordings and background documents are turned into a report that follows a fixed template, and every statement can be traced to a source. Three stages (normalize the sources, curate the facts, write and review the report) save their results as files, so a professional can check and correct them before signing. A construction report for a house is the worked example.
Video and learning content
Transcription, Captioning & Translation
Video-based educational or professional content is converted into accurate, timestamped subtitles in the source language and translated into other languages. Domain vocabulary, such as medical or dental terms, is handled by the enhancement step, and people keep control of review and correction.
Semantic Video Search
Users describe what they are looking for in plain language and jump straight to the right moment in a library of recorded lectures, webinars and training sessions. Transcript segments are indexed for semantic, keyword and hybrid search.
Dental Learning Assistant
Contextual question answering and guided learning support for dental education, based on curated course content, textbooks and instructional videos. The detailed documentation is still being written.
Where to go next
- Build one yourself: the software components and software modules behind every use case
- Try the demos: the toolkit demo has an interactive version of most use cases
- Measure quality: the evaluation layer describes how the output of these solutions is evaluated
